Our boiler has decided to pack in again! It seems to happen once a year.

I was looking forward to a soak in the bath to try and ease the aches I've got with this cold, but the water is blooming freezing [:0] So I'm siting here with my layers on....hubby says its not cold but to me its freezing [:D]

Thankfully we have boiler care and have been assured an engineer will be around this afternoon.....hope he hurrys up!

Have to say boiler care is well worth it, we pay £15 a month and it does give peace of mind.

Sorry to hear that Julie. We've had problems with our boiler in the past and there's nothing worse.

We've got boiler cover as well, and I definitely wouldn't be without it. I'm not sure what we pay, but we've got a £50 excess per call out, but even that's a lot better than having to pay for it to be fixed!

I hope the engineer is with you soon x

Boilers and cars.......great when they're working but a pain in the wotsits when they aren't!
When my 'old boiler' breaks down I tell her to shut up and get on with it.(Hope she doesn't read this one)

Luckily my eldest daughter lives a few doors away so I'll be in there having my baths...it was the first thing that came to mind [:0] Although I don't think she'll be happy if I go in at 2am [:D]

I'll phone the boiler care service tomorrow just to make sure the part has been ordered...I can't grumble they were out within 90 mins of me making the call today.

One thing for sure when we re-do the bathroom we'll be installing an electric shower as a back up.

The kettles working overtime already [:D]

I wouldn't be without the shower - I went into a panic when it packed up and it was straight to Homebase to replace it!

I don't like baths (a waste of time to me!) so not having the shower working was a nightmare!

I hope you're sorted soon Julie xxx

We rely on a shower as although our heating works fine out hot water is hit and miss, we don't have cover and the boiler isnt that old and spent £800 on it the first year of the IVA so not spending any more anything else and it's being replaced...so fingers crossed it carries on until my IVA is over at least. x

Can't remember the last time I had a bath, it's showers all the time for me.

We had problems with ours a couple of years ago, but at least we had the one over the bath so I could use that.

I'd die without a shower!

Would you beleve our boiler(not the missus) is about 25 years old! Luckily any faults over the years I have managed to sort out myself. Hope I'm not tempting fate!!
New type boilers tend to be more efficient and all that but are prone to breakdown far more often due to the electronics now involved.

I like my shower in the morning before I go to work, but then its baths all the way...just as well I had a couple earlier today.

I think we'll have to get a new boiler before long, I'm sure this one has been here since the house was built (approx 13 yrs ago) .

The central heating is our only form of heating too so had to borrow an electric heater.

Thankfully we have loads of duvets [:D]

Sounds like a real 'cuddle in a crisis' is needed :-)

That's made me feel hungry! Nothing nicer than toast over the fire.

We have a gas fire as well as the central heating, so if ours packs up we can at least be warm in the living room, and the shower in the bathroom is an electric one, so we'll always have that.
