Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with changes to their circumstances whilst in an IVA?
We are thinking of moving out of our rented accomodation into a new house. Our current landlord is becoming quite difficult (refusing to pay for basic maintainence etc)I would hate to have to lay down the law with him with regards to these issues (which i know i am entitled to do) to then have him increase our rent at the end of the year! (He seems like that sort of guy!)
Does anyone know if an iva practitioner would allow us to move house and if so would our monthly payments alter based on the size of our house/rent variations?
Another thing is that i have recently has a job offer which means my sallary will increase slightly. Do i need to inform my practitioner now or is this something that will be sorted at the yearly review?
Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jess [:X]

Hi Jess,

Best to keep your IP informed about any changes to circumstances, that way you don't have to worry about significant changes to payments at each review. With renting it's best to look for something in the same price bracket, if you can. Of course you will have to work out how to bridge the deposit gap, especially if your current landlord is slow returning your current one - and removal costs...

Don't mean to sound gloomy, - we rent, have for years and have moved twice since entering IVA. All the issues can be overcome, but you will need to find a new landlord who's either ok with tenants in an IVA or one that doesn't routinely carry out credit checks...

Best of luck and congrats on the payrise...

Hi
I have moved house and got a slight increase in salery also, i called my IP and they worked out i would be getting approx £45 per month take home and this has no effect on my payments into my IVA, i was so pleased, but i am paying more where i am living now. so depends how much more you are getting paid i guess. x

It’s best to inform your IP with regards to and increase in your income, with regards to moving house this is not an issue as long as you get something similar in costs. In all instances its best to talk this over with the IP
