my daughter has had her bank account frozen due to unpaid council tax.She has sent them an income and expenditure statement and they have agreed to accept £20 a month but they will not unfreeze her account. She has a 4 year old son and is also 5 months pregnant. Can you tell me what her next step should be.She phoned today and they were not interested in her life(their words)
She lives in Scotland

I am baffled as to why the bank should freeze a bank account because of unpaid Council Tax, unless it is due to the Bank having habitually bounced direct debits?
Is the bank asking her, for whatever reason, to take her custom elsewhere? If so, I can't see how there's much your daughter can do about it, apart from opening an account with another bank. Who is she with and can any of you in Scotland recommend a decent new one?

Don't live in Scotland myself Ian, but often recommend the Clydesdale Cashmaster account if that is any use?
Regards.
