A promotion opportunity has arisen at work.Everyone assumes I will go for the job.It will gradually increase my pay over the next 8 years by approx £10,000.It will be ALOT of additional stress, plus intrusion into my homelife-phonecalls etc.I'm trying to balance up the options.Initially I would earn approx £50 per month more..hence, £25 extra will be all mine to keep!!!Can't decide.There's something quite degrading about working all am (as my husband did )to get us an extra £12.50.
I kow I'm in debt, should pay back my creditors as much as I owe them etc, but really csn't decide what to do.Clearly, I might not even get the job, but do I even apply?My IVA is set to last a further 5 year and 3 months!

Its a tough call,and as its a wage increase rather than O/T, I would check with your IP what of it you will get to keep.

currently if I earn anything above and beyond the fixed amont that as agreed I have to cough up.Therefore, I already, before any overtime have to give at least £20 per month...one step forward and all that.Good that debts are being managed etc and don't to appear greedy.Just having a moral and finacial dilema...and is it worth the huge stess for the minimal return? Apply for the job Cat and if it is offered then you can decide whether all the additional work will be worth the return - not just now but in the long run. Remember the IVA will not last forever, and in less than four years all of that extra money will be yours, but this must be balanced on the effect it wil have on your home and family life. What does hubby think?

Go for it cat, if you think its worth it with the extra stress, and you can decide if its worth it if they offer it to you.
I would not turn down any opportunity at promotion during my iva as although the payments would rise, I would benefit after my iva has ended[:D]

Have a long think and sit down with hubby and decide if youcan cope with the additional pressure and stress, but I would not let the iva have any bearing on your decision.

I wouldn't put your career on hold because of your IVA.As others have said you will benefit fully when your IVA finishes.
