If I enter into an iva to cover my debts will my husband have to be involved? The debts are all in my name, we have separate finances (bank accounts etc.) and he has no idea about my debts!

Hiya Sarah and welcome to the forum. Is your house mortgaged or rented? I suppose that unless the IVA 'effects' him financially there is no real neccessity for your hubby to know. I would ask yourself this though, how would you feel if your hubby had an IVA and didn't tell you? It may be hard to let him know but may be the best thing to do.

Hi Sarah
If you are married, your creditors will assume that your husband has benefitted from your debts and therefore should pay towards them from his disposable income. If this is not the case, then it is worth discussing your situation with an insolvency practitioner, but it is also usually better to share your difficulties with your partner as you will need his emotional support, if not his financial support.

Hey sarah, welcome to the forum. I think you may be pleasantly surprised by confiding in your hubby, he may already have an idea. I think you will need the support but please remember that we are all here for you too.[:)] X

yes i couldnt manage without the support from my other half living with an iva is constantly on your mind and the added stress of hiding it from him must be minblowing i would tell him you have sorted your finances out and as for debt its over for you. once the iva is concluded you will be debt free the initial shock will soon dissapear and it will be a total relief for you when he says.
dont worry love we will sort it out together like mine did
but at the end of the day we are all different the choice is yours[:)]
good luck keep posting
