I have taken the decision to withdraw from my IVA proposal. I lost faith in the company I was using and I feel that it is not right for me. I have requested a mortgage payment holiday as it is the deal with my mortgage and am going to use this money to put towards my debts, this in turn will lower the payments and make life easier. I also am due a pay rise at the end of September. If the payment holiday is not accepted I am going to try for a temporary DMP. Could anyone who has gone through the process of a DMp, give me any hints, i.e the length it takes to set up, do creditors usually agree etc.

Thanks

What is it specifically which has put you off the IVA? And can you tell us how much your overall debts are and how much you were going to be paying per month?

Don't let one firm put you off a perfectly good procedure! It might be worth getting a second opinion before entering into a DMP which might take you much longer to repay.

I am now getting a some rent from my friend living with me which will help so I might be getting too much to do an IVA. The problem is I am a bit behind and have missed a payments now and also over my overdraft limit. I feel that I am always going to have to give control of my bank accounts to another person and constantly justify what I have spent. I just felt it was a severe measure. Also the firm made some basic errors which I felt they shouldn't have. My debt is about 21k and was going into be paying £333 a month.

If you now have more income on top of the £333, then a DMP is a far better option for you than an IVA. I would question whether an IVA would be accepted in circumstances where you could pay all of your creditors in full within 63 months - and I feel you have made a wise decision to pull out.

Let us know how the DMP goes.

Hi

Andrew Graveson from Bright Oak, they are a really good company and he is a really really nice gentleman, he gave me loads of advice before I decided to go for an IVA with Freeman Jones.

Have a look at:

Andrew Graveson of Brightoak often posts on the Forum and is highly recommended. You can find his details in the experts section.

Andrew Graveson is one of the nicest men I have met in the debt industry, and runs a very good DMP firm - Brightoak. He is too shy to put his photo on his avatar, but I think that the ladies of the site should do more nagging and persuade him to "come out"!!

I have worked with Andrew on a number of projects over the last couple of years, and would not hesitate to recommend his services.
