Hi,
I applied, through the John Tegg post, for a Bread pre-payment card and it's been a while now but I haven't heard anything. Has any one else got theirs? I thought it would be good for work - every time I have to stay away in a hotel I panic at the check ouy in case they say "We don't accept Visa Electron", (My insurance wouldn't accept my electron and I had to get a friend to pay for me""). Also friends and family have said if I want they will put money on it instead of giving me birthday & christmas pressies.
Hope anyone else who applied has recieved theirs,

Chardonnay, I haven't had mine either, but I think you applied for yours before me (I seem to remember you mentioning it on a post a few weeks ago).

Hi Kallis,
I think i did mentionit before and to be honest there's no panic, I'm just wondering how long it takes to arrive! When I move back home towards the end of August I thought I'd transfer my bond, when returned from myental agreement, to the card - I don't have an emergency fund and thought it would be a safe way to keep the money seperate so I can't spend it!!!

I spoke to the firm that issue the Bread Card today. They apologise for the delay. They had a systems problem that was making new applications fail the checking process. This has now been fixed.

Your cards have been approved today and will be with you shortly

I'm looking froward to recieving my new card to use as an emergency fund - friends and family will add funds which is super!!

I have one of these but since they started sticking use charge on them I just decided it wasn't the card to use. The cash back offer smacks of the Capital 1 card. Not impressed.

I switched to the Tuxedo card when they brought the charges in. I pay £4.95 a month and as I use it a lot it's much cheaper for me than paying a percentage per transaction. The customer service number for Tuxedo is either 0207 or 0208 so that's a bonus!

I think you're right skippy. Bread is fine for low usage, Tuxedo seems much better for high usage.

I've still got my Bread card (thanks John) for a back up, but it's a shame they introduced all the charges. It would be better if they offered a fixed fee per month as an option.

Moneysupermarket seem to have a good comparison section on Pre-Paid Debit Cards too.

The Cashplus card is great ... can't fault it. £4.95pm, no fees on transactions and free to top up at the Post Offfice.

Cashplus also has the advantage that I think its the only prepaid card than can be used for car hire. Which can be very difficult without a credit card.
