Just noticed something that I thought was quite bizarre...The DebtLine are offering £250 for taking out an IVA when you go through TopCashBack.
What does everyone think about this?
I feel it's slightly weird to pay someone to start to pay off debts, but then again, I'd have been really glad off £250 when I took out my IVA?

Would it be classed as a windfall? lol

Wouldn't the £250 have to be paid into the IVA?!?!?
Seriously, I don't think it's ethical to do this.

OOO this sounds really dodgy! How wrong can it be to offer money to people already desperate for it?

It is highly unethical for an insolvency practitioner to pay for business.

Hmmmm, never seen that one before. I'd be very wary of it.
As Skippy says, I think you would have to pay into your IVA, it would probably be the same as the bank charges refunds.
Or, could they class it as a 'gift'?

It might look on paper like they are giving you £250 but i doubt very much you would get a snif of it. I wouldnt even consider using a company offering something like that.

Hi,
I'm with the others here -they can't be serious!! You're admitting a debt problem and they offer you money to choose a certain solution, there is a funny smell in the air!!
You need to be sure the IVA is the right solution for you, so I'd ask around (try one of the experts ) and be ully informed.
Good luck,
Hugs,
Chardonnay

Surely it would come under a windfall clause anyway?

do they charge upfront fees and the £250 is a discount?

Where is this referred to on their website? I do not think that this firm employ insolvency practitioners, they appear to be a firm of "finders". But it would be interesting to see what IP firm is linked up to it, nevertheless.
