Do you get credit checked for home insurance if you want to pay monthly, just had my quote thru for renewal and it has increased by £90 a year with no claims!! I wanted to shop around but dont know if I'm in a position to?

My daughter has been recommended by teachers to start guitar lessons in September. this is going to cost around £20 a month and daughter is extremely keen. Would this be allowed on the budget when up for review?

I havent posted for a while things have been soo busy cant believe I am 4 payments into my IVA - only 56 payments to go lol!!

i am in an iva and have just moved insurance company by direct debit they didnt do a credit search

On insurance, my understanding is that they do not credit score, I think it is on the basis that if you fail to make your payments then the insurance will be cancelled.

Guitar lessons seem reasonable.

thanks for your replies, see my other post. Just bothered that IP might think daughter should have to suffer and not do guitar lessons. She would be soo disappointed if she couldnt.

I don't see this as unreasonable but worse case you may be asked to use some of the food budget to finance it. It will all depend on the whole pitcure, if you are asking for loads of increases on other items of expenditure and have some new items of expenditure such as say Sky tv and internet etc which was not on the original then your Supervisor will request that you cut back on your expenditure.

Thanks for that, alan. We will have usual increases fuel, utilities, sky was already built into budget.

I concur with Alan on this. If you are already in an IVA, and the payment for the guitar lessons is affordable within your budget, I am sure that your supervisor will allow this - I would if I were acting.
