You may remember that I was recently surprised to receive a cheque for £585 FROM my IP after my F&F was offered and accepted [:)]

Well, a few weeks ago some local decorators made a very good job of sprucing up the outside of my house with a badly needed lick of paint. They did such a nice job that I decided to ask them if whilst I was away in Bradford next weekend they would to the inside! So my daughter is project managing (for a small fee!)and a team of five blokes (whom it turns out that I took the funeral service for ones young sister last year) are going to come in, paint my whole house (ceilings, walls and gloss) brilliant white ... and when I get back on the Sunday evening everything will be the same ... but different!

So my IVA 'refund' is being put to good use ... or am I actually completely mad!! [:)]

How lovely, I wish I could move out for a month and all these jobs that are waiting for post IVA get done and I have a new bathroom window that's my biggest wish as I can't open the one I've got and it's gross!

Debbie I hope you come back to a nice freshly painted house x

What bliss to come back to a newly decorated house!

Ours is desperately in need of a lick of paint throughout, but we haven't got the money for paint at the moment.

Unless someone takes pity on me when they see the state of it, it'll be like this for a while yet!

I don't think you're mad at all Debbie, I'd rather spend money on the house than on myself......just think how lovely it will be to come home to a sparkly white house![8D] X

Sounds great, I am actually doing the same on my gardens but I am doing the work myself. I started in May now I have dug up the back garden, its all a little bit messy right now with the mud, but decking is going down and the front has just been turfed. Its taken so long as I have waited for funds, plus the weather keeps sending us in. I Just bought two new shrubs today, been saving for weeks. It really feels like a brand new life.

Sounds lovely Lilly ... I bought two very sad looking salmon pink geraniums left over at the end of the day at the local market on Tuesday, for a £1 each and put then in some old pots that I found at the back of the garden. I've put them outside my front door ... and something so simple makes me look forward to coming home now!

My poor old house has suffered from a real lack of TLC for many years now ... I always thought that it was more important to put my heart and soul into bringing up the children rather than decorating. In some ways it paid off as when it came to be valued for the IVA purposes it wasn't worth much!! And likewise if I had to go the BR route. In the end, as I kind of sensed that it might be, it became my saving grace in that I was able to release the equity to offer the full and final ... so I thought the house deserved the treat more than me! Debbie . How nice. I would love to have the whole house done. We seem to decorate in a neverending circle, by the time we get to the end we have to start again.
