Hi guys,
Ive been looking into IVA's recently, and i am so relieved that such thing exists.
I have been in talks with 'moneyexpert' about getting an IVA, and they seem so keen on everything, that im quite sceptical about it all.
They claim that they can reduce my payments by £1000 over 5 years, and they will send a courier to collect copies of my documents including - Vehicle log book, drivers licence, 3 months payslips, copies of all debt statements.
The problem is that i dont know enough about this all, and i almost feel like i may be getting involved in a loan or something.
Anybody had any experience of Moneyexpert? the Guy sounded like he works on a market stall, lots of "hello love, hi darling" etc, calims he will sort it all out and i have a great case etc.
Ive read lots of excellent comments on Melanie Giles, and am very keen to discuss things with her.
I appreciate any advice that can be given.

I would certainly check out other companies. If you visit iva.com they have reviews of companies on there.
I am with Payplan myself, but I have heard nothing but praise about Melanie, so I think you should think about giving her a ring.

I have just initiated contact with melanie following the advice on this forum. My first call was to Freeman Jones who sound very much like you describe - they took over a thousand pounds out of my account last Wednesday before I had even signed or returned anything to them. They were then extremely rude when I asked for a refund - which I have had today. My second call was to payplan who explained things a lot better, but have not been in touch since last Thursday even though I was promised a call on Friday - weekend at the latest. I am like you in that an IVA is anew idea to me. The only advice I can offer as a newbie - is do call around and speak to a number of different companies before you decide on anything. Initially I panicked and wanted to get my mess sorted quickly so was willing to do whatever it took. However - i now realise there is a little time to spare to make your mind up and make sure it is the right decision.

Hey silma, welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of good advice and amazing support here. Personally, I wouldn't use any company who calls me "love" and "darlin"![:0] I am with Melanie Giles and recommend you speak to her, you can get her details from the "meet the expert" page. Good luck and keep posting. Viki X

Sorry might be being thick- but why send your log book ????? Why would they send a courier company to collect???? Contact a few firms before making a decision!
