Re article Sunday financial mail - I bought the mail on sunday this morning and there is a large article in the financial section about rogue lenders who vote against an IVA then contact the people they voted against and offer them high interest loans sometimes securing them on their homes.

Many people will fall for this too, I mean, how many of us realised the amount of debt we were in?? It was only when I maxed my c/cards that I actually stopped and looked at it and what a shock it was, followed by sheer panic, and no end of tears. Its the most I have ever been scared, I wasnt buying 'stuff' I was just surviving but I didnt think about it. How many people who find themselves in the same situation will grab another loan to stop that horrible feeling?? I would have and another thing how many times have you had to say, no I do not want a store card and am not interested in saving 10 or 20 per cent thanks, even when buying stamps from the post office???

If I was ever tempted to have a tattoo.........

Its our fault I know but its too easy to get to this place and such a dreadful place to be.

Yep I am very new to all this IVA info and I am so glad to have found this site. When you are desperate anyone that says they can help you would have most people signed up in a flash. I called Debt Free Direct over 6 months ago for some information only and they are still calling me back now asking what we are doing (you would think they could take a hint by now we are not going to use them!)they were too pushy made me think there was too much in it for them.

With regards to my second post here, it looks like the big boys have muscled in on the likes of Melanie and could have adverse affect on the smaller companies.

So if your thinking of an iva then go small like Melanie and don't go to the big bully boys..

Horray for Melanie

The sad thing is the bully boys will keep on plying there trade and if you are not as fortunate as us on this forum then you will time and again be another victim

Thank you for those kind words Keith. There are many good and honest insolvency practitioners out there, the media focus is just a little diverted at the moment.

As a profession we have to continue to demonstrate that we are giving value for money to the creditors who effectively pay our fees, whilst offering a fair and sympathetic approach to our clients in financial difficulty.

I totally agree with you Melanie

As i said before in another post that the big boys treat us as just another statistic while you and the other smaller companies treat us like human beings

Thats why you get my vote and support

Dear All,

It was so nice to come into work on a Monday morning and read nice comments about small 'IP' companies as we fit into this category too!

We pride ourselves on giving a very personal service to our clients who are experiencing a very difficult time and as Melanie stated keeping our costs low and offering the creditors a reasonable return with each proposal put forward.

Kind regards

Nicola

If I can say it is very important to meet your potential supervisor and see if you can have a good relationship with them.

After all this is going to most probably last 6 years.

The question one has to ask yourself here is :-

"Can I turn to this person if something goes wrong and will they still help me and be objective?"

Hope this helps

Hi
Nicola is right, the smaller companies can give the personal touch to your IVA.It,s nice to phone your provider and speak directly to your IP because when you are deeply in debt you need a companion, not only whilst settng up your IVA but during the five year term.
Take time to choose the right company.
