Today in fact [:D]. My payments are by DD not standing order, so I am going to cancel all future payments to GT. I would rather they contacted me to confirm but I know that another payment 'could' leave my account before they pull their fingers out. If it transpires they believe I owe them money I would rather me owe it them and sort it straight away rather than be in credit to them and wait months for a 'possible' refund.
Any way doom and gloom over, today I am a happy man.[:)]

Excellent ! And a good plan re the payments. When I finished with GT I asked several times for confirmation that I could cancel the standing order -- never got a response, so cancelled it anyway.

watching this with interest as we finish in 4 months so will be interested to see how long you wait for you CC Merlin. Congratulations and enjoy a debt free Christmas.
When I finish, I am going to borrow your idea regarding payments as I don't want to wait forever for a refund of overpayment either.

Thanks for all the congrats. It wasn't easy retraining the way we spent money we didn't really have, but it was a good lesson that will be indelibly imprinted.

I don't think the lesson is to never get credit again, I believe it is the define knowledge learned on how to manage exactly what you can afford and not be tempted to draw on money you don't have the income to repay.

Fab that you've finished your payments, hopefully that certificate won't take long to arrive.
Merlin's post is a good one, I've completed an IVA and have a car loan, which I can afford and do feel in control of my finances.
