Hubby's legs stiffened up a week or so after we got back from Florida. We didn't think too much of it but last Wednesday his left leg swelled up. He went to the doctor on Thursday and since then life has been a whirlwind of hospital visits, injections and now warfarin as he's been diagnosed with a blood clot behind his left knee!
Thankfully it's been caught early and he's being treated but it really was a wake up call for both of us - it scared me half to death and made me stop taking him for granted.
Not a good few days in our house!

Oh Skip what a worry. Glad it's diagnosed and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Oh dear -- I hope it all settles down! Do they think it was caused by the flight ?

Thanks everyone. Foggy, they do think it was the flight as he has no history of anything like this. We didn't realise it can take up to 4 weeks after a flight for symptoms to appear so we just thought he had water retention!
Surprisingly it hasn't put him off going back to Florida - he now wants to go back for 3 weeks!

How frightening! It worries me with the amount of time I am immobile these days. Glad it's been caught early.
You'll have to turn left on the plane when you go next time so you can sit and walk around in comfort (that's after the lottery win of course!).
Hope that Harry is being nice to his dad while he is recovering.

Thanks everyone. He's been back to the hospital today and no longer has to have injections and they are lowering his warfarin dose as his blood has 'thinned' so much quicker than they expected. Hopefully this means he'll only be on the warfarin for 6 months and then back to normal until we fly again!

Thanks everyone. He seems to be doing ok but he's got a medical next week to see if there is any underlying cause for the DVT or if it was simply due to the flight. I might relax properly after that!
Luluj, we're going back to Florida. Hopefully in May 2015 and hopefully for 3 weeks!
