does anyone know when a job goes to hr how long it is before its out ?

I presume you mean when it goes,out for applications?

I presume you ate waiting for a job to be advertised. You could always ask your boss or give HR a ring to ask them.

It depends upon the particular employers policies at the time. In the public services a job often has to be offered internally first and often to a specific section of the workforce (those declared surplus, facing redundancy or redeployment, etc). Many jobs will never get offered to the wider public.
