I have considerable debts and have plucked up courage to pursue an Iva for which I am getting 3 quotes. My husband is self employed but he does have some debts.

I have been advised that I won't be accepted unless he enters into a DMP or iva because on paper he cannot pay his debts based on his profits but he does it ok. As he is effectively the MD of his business and employee and a) doesn't want of effect his business and b) his personal credit rating.

Any advice?

As long as the debts are yours and none of them are joint with your husband, and you can service the payments there should be no need for your husband to enter any debt solution if he feels he can handle his own debts.

Might I ask who you have spoken with ?

I would suggest you have a chat with Tina again and find out why she thinks this. However, to be honest, Tina is usually spot on with her advice and, if it can be done, the team at Melanie Giles will get it done.
