entering into IVA,I want to ensure my daughter is ok, she is young (6) so I am hoping by the end of this process, she wont have suffered too much. I presume, activities such as swimming and dance are still allowed ? is there an allowance for uniform and clotnhing. How about christmas and birthdays.. I'm worried I wont be getting her or anyone else anything? Do people jus tbudget out of other allowances?

there is an allowance for clothing definitely. christmas and birthdays unfortunately, not so, we just take out of other allowances as you say. Save on one thing and put it towards a treat.
Life is bearable within an IVA and with a realistic income and expenditure you should cope fine.
I believe there to be an activity allowance too so do ensure you put all your expenditure down and discuss in detail with your IP x

What you could do, if you have time, is complete online surveys and earn vouchers. My wife does and it pretty well funds Christmas for us. It is a bit time consuming but worth it in the end.

We have actually found tht we have much better christmas and birthdays since being in an IVA because we have to be more imaginative in buying or making presents.My kids are older but still like gifts so we buy little bits through out the year and put them away. I make lots of bits and bobs as I sew so little bags and lavander bags as pressies for the outsiders. We have a neighbour who every year gives us 6 really nice bottles of wine for christmas and as we dont drink we use these for gifts.Just a little bit of imagination and recycling and christmas and birthdays can be good.

A good post Carole and we all get through Christmas as best we can and like you say being a little imaginative with gifts can help.
