It is elderflower season and I for one have been making the most of it and have two lots of elderflower wine on the go and one of cordial. I am also planning on a batch of elderflower jam.
All of the above will be nicely labelled and presented and given as gifts at Christmas.[:)]
I'm hoping there will be enough left when it comes to elderberry season as I quite fancy making some elderberry chutney.

I used to brew beer, cider and wine all the time - just can't be bothered these days - cheaper to buy it from the supermarket.

Any tips on how to make the cordial? We have tons of elderflowers blooming near where i live and would love to give it a bash. Might take my mind off other things for awhile.
Thanks swampduck3

I disagree it is more expensive to make your own! Demijohns are a couple of pounds each, I get given loads of wine bottles so don't have to buy them and nature provides an abundance of fruit and berries etc with which to make the wine. Sugar and yeast aren't expensive either and you can get 6-7 bottles out of each demijohn!
Yes, I love elderflower cordial with sparkling water - yummy!
There are lots of recipes to make the cordial. Pick the heads, strip the white flowers and add water, sugar, lemons and some recipes call for citric acid. Stir a couple of times a day for a few days before straining through a muslin and bottling!

But it is easy! I bottled our cordial yesterday. I think Tesco are doing two bottles for a fiver. The recipe we used made 4 bottles - all for the cost of a bag of sugar and a lemon (and an hour walking and gathering for elderflowers!)
