Boyfriend has just rang..was having 2 new tyres fitted today as his current ones were bent and causing the car to shake..only to be told the back wheels are pretty much illegal and also bent out of shape..so 4 news tyres is going to set us back £400!!!! And we have no choice but to do it!

Not good Vimto - you could ask for a payment break if it's a problem?

We've only made 2 payments so far lol. Luckily we have some money from the house sale which we asked to keep to be able to find somewhere to live etc but it's still been a bit of a blow we could have done without!

Glad you can afford to pay for them but it is a bit much that you've have to spend this now - it's what usually happens though!!

I know, typical really! Least they'll be sorted now for a good while hopefully!

Law of S*d always operates at these times. As you say, though, at least they'll be good for quite a while now

We use Event Tyres. They are online and they come to you. They are the cheapest we have found.

Not good but car tyres are vital so best to get them put right. Glad you've got a bit put by albeit wasn't planning on spending it on tyres. x

Make sure you get a quote from a different place, I took my car once and they told me my alloys needed replacing,as they were causing my innertubes to puncture, went somewhere else and they said the wheels only needed the edges filing down, which cost a quarter of what the first place quoted.I know safety comes first, but you can still possibly save money by getting a second opinion!

Well...took my car to have my two front tyres balanced saturday morning..should have cost £5 a tyre..he lifted the car up and told me the tyres were ruined and needed replacing...£130 it cost me!!! And he said the back 2 only have about 2000 miles on them too and i'm doing about 1000 a month! [:(] [:(] [:(] x

That's not good but better to be legal and safe. Never easy is it?

we have had to get 4 tyres for hubbys car in the last few months, he ended up driving illegally as we just couldn't afford to get them done with other expenses coming in at the same time (like a £180 electric bill they wanted paying like, now!) it's a constant nightmare and worry with cars (just ask Lyns) and all I can say is try as hard as you can to save as much as you can from your allowances towards a rainy day. So far we have managed without missing a payment but have come close a couple of times
