They've remained the same for the last two years - can't see it lasting though!!!

Dreading the budget on Wednesday!!

I know some said they were putting the costs up - hardly seems worth it for £1 a month!!

I'm dreading when they do put them up again as I think they will rocket with them being held for the last year and possibly the next.

I read some where that the council tax has being frozen for 5 years. Mine is the same as last year but how long will that last

I don't think it has been frozen for five years. It has been for last year and this year but, as evidenced above by footiemad, some councils are putting the prices up.

This might seem strange but mines gone up the normal amount aprox 3.5% but having read the explanation for it and all the info regarding where the money goes police firebrigade etc i actually agree with the rise.the reason being the government have offered a one off subsidy to the council if they freeze council tax bills, its like being offered a one off lump sum instead of a payrise so in future the council will have to put up the bills higher to meet the shortfall.Anyway thats how i understand it.

At the end of the day, as much as a CT freeze is welcome, initially, we will "pay" for it in lost services!

Like Jan, I am dreading the Budget, which is hailed as "a workers Budget" ... however, the coalition definition of workers seems different to mine !!

I agree Foggy - I know I am going to be a lot worse off after Wednesday.

As regards Council Tax, mine is exactly the same this year as it has been for the past two.

Our council tax has gone up by a couple of pounds per month. I don't feel we get much for it, and when they waste it paying idiots like the woman who knocked on the door this afternoon I begrudge every penny. She came to talk to us about loft and cavity wall insulation but obviously either she or the council are too stupid to realise we live in a downstairs maisonette with solid brick walls! A complete and utter waste of time!
