The first race under the new regime is this weekend.
I don't mean this thread to open debate about who likes/dislikes F1, but more to find out if having to subscribe to watch every race live (if that's financialy viable) is acceptable and for those who can watch, can Sky justify the fee by making it more watchable?
As the season develops will people switch off?
Will more be attractd?
Has the Beeb let sports fans down again?

I'm a massive F1 fan and I have to say I'm pleased Sky have got all the races this year. Sky's sports coverage is second to none and I think having a dedicated channel is a brilliant idea.

The BBC's coverage was hit and miss - I Sky+'d a race a few years ago and because it overran it changed from BBC1 to BBC2 halfway through the race. When I complained to the BBC they replied saying they announced the change during the race, slightly missing the point that if you're recording a race it's too late!

I'll be interested to see what the commentary will be like. I like Martin Brundle but I didn't like David Coulthard as his co-commentator as all he ever did was quote from the rule book!

While I'm pleased that Sky have got the F1 I do think the Beeb have let down people who don't have / don't want / can't afford Sky. They could have given the F1 better coverage than they did by putting it on BBC3 or BBC4 and shown uninterrupted coverage and everyone would have been happy.

As to whether or not people switch off I think that will depend on the racing. If it's as one sided as last season they will lose viewers but fingers crossed it'll be closer!

'Uninterupted coverage of every race' hopefully means no adverts during the race but don't know about practice and qualifying.

Won't be watching it - used to love F1 but I'm afraid neither of us are fans anymore. Much prefer Motogp and Superbikes.

I caught some of the channel yesterday and the impression I got was that Sky have the opinion that they are the first organisation to broadcast F1 and they have to explain everything as though we are all imbeciles, as the reporter pointed out the different tyres outside the garage and even being somewhat overawd by the pit wall!!!! he was only short of telling us that passengers aren't allowed in an F1 car!!!
Only time will tell, but I hope the patronising stops sooner rather than later.

I will ignore this one now as I do the football one!! Don't mind F1 but do not like certain drivers!!

I,m watching the Qualifying now,great without any interuptions,Should be on BBC though for non subscribers,I think its about time they scrapped the tv license its a rip off in my book.

we have just watched the qualifiers and first impressions is brilliant ! I am so not looking forward to the next six months though as hubbie has found the RECORD button and SERIES linked it so that all races are recorded for playback ! OMG - can feel it be time to escape - HELP !

Only way that's going to happen is if they do advertising so your programmes would be interrupted.

I love F1 and WRC just can't get enough of it, but this is the first time i won't be watching the first race live, i haven't got Sky Sports although tempted the extra £30 a month, i just can't justify it. Maybe when the football season restarts but the way the Villa are playing it would end in heartache!

Just watched the repeat of qualifying and apart from not having to get up at stupid o'clock to watch I didn't notice any remarkable difference in coverage. Really glad Brundle is on board and look forward to his pre race walk on the starting grid, won't mind getting up early fot that.

I'm watching the the qualifying on Sky+ now and I have to say watching it in HD is much better! I also enjoyed the commentary so much more without David Coulthard!
