Up until now I have always paid board but with my father dying it is a right eye opener. He always paid the bills and I wasn't sure exactly how much everything was. Got a letter today from council tax and they want £168 before Feb and I need a television licence at end of month. Its going to bee a proper struggle as my Iva payment is due at end of month as well. Sorry but just needed to get it off my chest

Hi wickerwish. Have a word with your IP and see if they will allow you a break to catch up with these things. Or, before that you could set up to pay the TV licence monthly and speak to the council, explaining the circumstances, they might allow you to increase next years installments to cover this years shortfall.

Wickerwish monthly TV licence is a good idea. Do speak with the council as Foggy suggests, remember we are here to give support so any time you want to offload remember where we are xx

If you do set up the TV licence monthly then you will have to pay it in full initially over six months. We swapped from quarterly to monthly last year and had to do that. The payments have now dropped though.

Just looked at website and didn't realise you could pay weekly or fortnightly too x

I didn't realise that either.
I was just annoyed that we had to pay a whole years licence in six months when we'd been paying quarterly for years.

Jan, might I ask who Wares is ? Nearly all of his / her posts seem to be snippets of other people's posts.

I have no idea Foggy - it doesn't say a lot in his/her profile. I have actually deleted a couple of posts today which made no sense at all and had nothing to do with the threads in question.

I phoned council today and they said they will postpone payment date to 13th Feb (not a good date because it would have been my dads birthday) but not heard from TV license place which I will ring tomorrow. An extra two week will ease things a bit. At least I get paid weekly so hopefully I can manage a bit better.
