Seems an Iva is more common than i thought, not sure if thats a scary thing or not?? I was chatting to one of my colleagues at work yesterday, saying how tough january was, sales down at work, less customers about and how the current UK mess was effecting all. I commented i felt sorry for those with massive overdrafts etc post christmas. He turned to me and asked how did i cope, i was quite frank no overdraft, no credit card and if i didn't have the cash i didn't get it, simples! I told him i had restructured my loans a few years back and was technically in the clear in 2 months so much better off thats what drove me forward. He then went to explain he was in an IVA, i was shocked much more open and honest than me, slightly ashamed i didn't come out with it but i haven't told anyone else. He explained he got stitched up due to mismanagement of his iva and had to pay a futher 8 months but come june it was over.
I was just surprised i didn't realise someone i worked alongside day by day was going through everything i was.
