Now H&S has it's place but lets be honest. Most of it is a joke.

I know a lady who is a H&S Manager and she admits she is essetially trying to justify her job and keep it so she 'intreprets' the law and creates work for other people. Such as pointless form filling.

In my job everyday I have to fill in:

2 pages of jobs I have to tick off. If something is out of place or wrong I have to fill in a form, scan it and send it to the Facilties Manager. Usually have to do at least 2.

Then their is the staircase checklist. Not only do I have to walk up and down 8 flights of stairs (3 times!!) but I have to fill in a 1 page form for it each day.

I also have to do 30 minute 'Check Calls' to every lone worker in the building and fill it in on a sheet. Some days there can be 8 or 9 people. I have to set a reminder on the computer every 30 mins for each of them and and the times can be all over as it is 30 mins from when they first arrived. Arrrgghhh!!!!

In our building the windows cannot be opened more than 15% in case someone falls out of them ...... to be able to do this you would have to climb on a desk ( which I guess would also be against the rules!).

I can accept having to check on lone workers - if you fall ill you might not be able to contact anyone.

Lol. I have to do hoourly check calls. But say I had accident after just made a call then hour till next one, they try to call, if no reply get someone to me probably take another hour at least. So kind of pointless really.

A colleague on night shift here 2 years ago died while praying from an undiagnosed heart condition and they did not bother to send anyone so I found him the next morning after breaking in and he had been dead over 8 hours!

I thought you said 30 minute checks Luke?

Must admit that where I work we're rarely allowed to work on our own and the maximum time if it is necessary is two hours and the team leaders will check on the phone quite frequently.

It is bad though that nobody checks on you.

I think Luke means he has to call in every hour to confirm he's alive and not planning on doing any praying!!

I have to call lone workers every 30 mins. But I have to call an automated number and log in every hour. I think every hour for the lone workers I monitor is enough as every 30 mins is difficult as they can be hard to get hold of. Many times a day they in areas where they can't get a phone signal which is annoying.
