Hi all - a bit of advice required. Ages ago I told my brother in law I would get a photo professionally done of the kids for my sisters birthday.

Don't think I can afford to do it now. Any tips on what to tell him?

I've already got her a couple of pressies (it is a milestone birthday).

I've got a lumix camera and I wondered what a picture blown up would look like? Crap or possible?!!

You could just say that you really can't afford it at the moment - I think a lot of people are strapped for cash at the moment. Pity you don't live near me - one of my neighbours does this as a hobby and we had loads of pictures done last year for £40.

Don't know what it would be be like with a digital camera - perhaps nip into a camera shop and ask advice?

Why dont you contact a local college, I'm sure there will be students there that would love to build up there portfolio of work for their courses and for a fraction of the cost if not free. Good luck x

Try the local photgraphic clubs as well as they often want sitters for portrait shots.

How many megapixels does your camera have Kazza? I've got a Panasonic Lumix and if you go into the settings it tells you the maximum size you can enlarge a picture to depending on the megapixels you have it set to.

Thanks all! Someone at work has given me a number of someone who could do it. She says he's reasonable (don't know how reasonable though!!). Will try him and if not will contact the college.

College's are at the end of the academic year now or heading fastly towards it (I teach in one and can't wait).

Sometimes on FB local groups have photographers that want to build up a portfolio. I'm a member of my town group and find some interesting stuff.

I had a book done for a good friend. I had lots of pictures of her mom and dad put in it. You scan them in and then they are printed like a real book. She loved it and it only cost £14. I think the firm was LULU.COM. they are in America so you will need about 2 weeks to get it done and over to you.
