I know I had been divorced from my ex for 31 years but to be told of his death today was a complete shock as he was only two years older than me and it was totally amicable.

To make matter worse, I contacted his daughter via FB and she didn't even know he had been married before until after his death.

I really feel for her - she was an only child and is now on her own as her mother died earlier in the year.

I would like to think so but the ball is in her court now. I contacted her via FB and I imsgine it must have come as a shock to her - he must have kept the marriage certificate/divorce papers as I certainly didn't.

We didn't survive much past three years - faults on both sides. I do regret his passing though - 59 is no age is it?

No age at all. Give her time and maybe she'll contact you to fill in a few blanks one day x

It isn't - it just came as as a complete shock - we had no contact from when I went to the house to collect my personal stuff until now. My daughter has always been aware of the fact that I was married before. Obviously he didn't want his daughter to know altough I think his wife must have known.

I was the one who left in the first place but there were faults on both sides. Still sad that he has died though.

Sorry to hear that Jan,

Things like this certainly make you look at life & be grateful for what you have. I'm sure the daughter will be in touch, I can't begin to imagine what she is going through xxxx

it certainly does make you apreciate things more. My own mum would of been 51 today. Its the silly things that make me miss her all the more.

Oddly enough, I am now friends with his daughter on FB! Even more spooky, she shares the same birthday as me!

Struzzo - your mum was a youngster! How awful for you losing her at such a young age.

I'm thankful mine are still going at 87 and 83, I consider myself lucky!
