It's 2 days before Christmas, so why oh why did I have to wake up with toothache?!?! I've got an emergency dentist appointment tomorrow lunchtime but I've no idea what they can do!

I'm going to be asking them to take it out as I had unsuccessful root canal treatment on it so as much as I don't like the idea I want shot of it!

I'm just hoping that I wake up tomorrow and it doesn't hurt so I can cancel the appointment until after Christmas...

Aww you poor thing Skippy, have you taken anything for the pain?

Hope the pain goes away or in the least the tooth can be taken out and you can enjoy your Christmas xx

No, I haven't taken anything for it as it's not unbearable, just nagging pain - I'm terrible, I tell other people to take tablets but I don't take them!

Dave has offered to liquidise my Christmas dinner if they can't sort it out!

Skip, that's not good. I was hoping it would have gone away.

Hope it has gone by tomorrow.

I probably haven't helped by rooting round the tooth with some dental floss!

Skip - I hope your tooth is better today. I would think about going and having it out though rather than suffer till next week.

H - that sounds bad.

Thanks everyone! It's much better today, although it still hurts and I've been a tad grumpy! I get stressed enough at Christmas without this as well!

I'm hoping they will take it out, although I don't know if they'll be able to do it easily - the tooth is crowned and there's very little of the original tooth left underneath for them to get hold of. When Dave's mum had a similar problem they had to drill the tooth out...

I've told Dave not to tell his mum before tomorrow as I don't want her to tell me how bad it was over Christmas dinner!

Have you tried Solpadeine - the soluble one... you can swoosh it over the tooth in question. I find it's the only thing that really helps with toothache. Tastes foul but shifts the pain. Hope you get it sorted Skippy, nothing worse than toothache! I cracked a tooth last week so know how you feel... got a temp filling for the time being and have to go back after new year for a crown as there's not enough tooth left to work with.

I'll get some - thanks for that. I hope you get your tooth sorted out as well worriedhalftodeath.

I feel a bit of a fraud going to the dentist today as it doesn't hurt as much as when I made the appointment - typical! I'll still go though in case it flares up again over Christmas.
