Hello everyone,

We (my husband and I!!) have just started an IVA (2 months down) and its all going pretty well. But something is really giving me the hump!

We are both keen football fans who travel to a lot of games to watch our local team. Obviously this has now been cut back due to our new circumstances, and that's fine. In fact we have just really enjoyed a weekend at home together rather than travelling the length of the country. However, there are several work colleagues (including my boss and other senior members of staff) who ask me about the football. One in particular (senior to me) asks every week if I went, but when I say we didn't he starts taking the mickey about my allegiance changing, my interest has gone, they are not good enough for me now, I'm a fairweather fan etc etc. This morning he did this in front of a visitor we have here from overseas at the moment.

Now I know I'm oversensitive about lots of things, but this really upsets me. We are trying hard to make it work and realise that a few sacrifices now is going to be worthwhile. I feel like issuing an all users bulletin at work: "In an effort to avoid bankruptcy, we will not be travelling or attending as many games has we have previously"

Why can't people mind their own business, and not question what I do with my own time? I wouldn't dream of asking him why he was or wasn't doing something at the weekend.

Sorry about that - I know its trivial - but I've no-one else to let off steam to. Aaagggghhhhh!!! I feel better now.

B/w
Jet

Why not have a quiet word with him, and explain that due to issues you cannot discuss with him you are not going to be attending so many matches in future - and you would appreciate it if he did not comment upon this publicly.

No need to mention anything about debts, and that should put him firmly in his place.

Totally agree with Melanie.

It's nothing to do with him how you spend your weekends and he needs telling.
