Bit of a fun sweepstake here, folks... who is getting the most "practical" gift for Xmas?
I had the courage to tell my parents about my IVA in September, 6 months after it was approved. My dad was initially horrified things were so bad financially but since then, has been really great and supportive, as has my mum.
I am now wondering, however, if they have taken it a bit far.... [;)]
My christmas gifts this year are rather more "practical" than usual. This year my christmas presents from my mum and dad are the following...
1)Vaccinations for 3 of my cats + worming and flea treatment.
2)2 new tyres and and oil change for my skip of a car.
3)A months supply of cat and dog food, and....
This beats everything...
4) A new toilet!![:D]

Your Mum and Dad sound great RC. Are they home for Xmas or still overseas? Hopefully you will all be together, but if it is just you and the children (figuratively speaking of course!) I hope you have a great time.
No doubt you will put the vaccinations to good use in the New Year - as you go in hunt of the hunky vet!

My folks are home for Xmas, Melanie.
As for the hunky vet, unfortunately the cats use the Cat Clinic and the vet there, whilst awesome as a vet, is old enough to be my father and his wife runs the reception!! [:D]
However... hunky vet is a collie man, and although it was hard for me when Cara was hospitalised for a week at the end of November because my baby was ill, it did have an upside! [:D]

Dave bought me a pair of gardening shoes, but that's about as practical as my presents get!
You've actually given me an idea RC - Harry's vaccinations are due just after my birthday, so there's one of my birthday pressies methinks!

I think they're great presents, nobody knows I'm in IVA but we have told them we're only buying for children this year and I've scrimped and saved every penny I can to have this weekend in Manchester and to eat out on Sunday evening.

sounds like great prezzies!
I've been asking for a tv ariel for over a year!! Did you know it snows all the time in tv land?!
I saved up to have the boys vaccinated for life last time I took them. It'll be a great saving in the long run.

Well..i once asked for money so that i could buy my road tax in january[:I]and i once exchanged a dressing gown for an iron!! This year though i have put B&Q vouchers on my list,so that i can buy some wallpaper for the bedroom[:D]!! These days I would definitely much rather have things that i can make use of as opposed to things that i just 'want'..i most definitely think that the toilet is a clear winner though RC[:D][:D]!! xx

My mum used to buy my tax disc every Christmas, but now it's due in October she can't do that. The best thing was she used to put it in a box and wrap it up every year!

[:D]..hubby got a Trowel and Fork set today,think they've seen the state of our garden and thought he needed one[:D]..I don't think nothing could beat having a new toilet though!![:D]..xx
