OK, it's that time of year when the cheesy Christmas music is everywhere (including the CD player in my car!) - what are your favourite Christmas songs? Mine are:

1. Fairytale of New York - the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
2. Stop the Cavalry - Jonah Lewie
3. When a Child is Born - Johnny Mathis
4. Merry Xmas Everyone - Slade
5. I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day - Wizzard

I like the old ones, my fave Christmas songs are:

Winter wonderland - Bing Crosby
Santa Baby - Eartha Kitt
Let it snow - Dean Martin

I have them on my ipod and sing in the car at the top of my voice![:X]

I love 'I believe in Father Christmas' by Greg Lake. Never tire of hearing that one.

Slade and Wizzard are also great. I'm sure there are more I could name, but can't think of any at the moment.

They don't make any good ones anymore.

Anything up beat but I also like carols, O holy night.

I hate the sad ones like it'll be lonley this christmas... and some more that I cannot think of... I think I heard one of these today someone was trying to sing in HMV...sounded like some post 60 year old, dont they know they cant flipping sing anymore?... woowww, another year without you,,, the snow feels colder without you...the christmas tree is so bare..wowwww. I couldnt take it, almost slit my wrists on the spot. We dont need any sad Christmas songs, they should be banned.

All I want for Christmas is you, Mariah Carey (one of the few of hers I like)

Hubby has changed the words of Santa Baby to suit the dog, so he's going round singing Suzie Baby!

Well said Lily!

I forgot Little Drummer Boy Julie! Have you heard the Terry Wogan/Aled Jones version? Not a patch on Bing and David!

I'm glad someone else likes the Greg Lake song Tori. Always makes Christmas for me that does.

I like Fairytale of New York, but I did get fed up of hearing it last year.

I think Greg lake is my fave too. Then he is very good.

I can only speak for myself of course, re the sad song thing.... I think if you have ever suffered a terrible tragedy at christmas as my family did, then its really hard to get through it when these sad songs are played and thats what we had to do, get ourselves through it.

I am not a down beat, morose type person but I would rather have up beat stuff going on, its easier that way.

I love Fairytale of NY, and also Band Aid.

Was in Iceland, with a whopping budget of £19 to spend, thinking how ****e life can be sometimes, when "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" came on. Just wanted to jump into a freezer and shut it! Those sad songs are just damn cruel. 'It'll be lonely this Christmas'?????? Who wrote that? They should be made to spend Christmas in solitary confinement.
Bah humbug! [:(!]

Fairytale of New York is my fave[:D] followed by Stop The Cavalry,I believe in Father Christmas and Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea although that one makes me cry now as that used to be the song I sang when we drove down to visit my mum who passed away quite close to Christmas 3 years ago[:(]..that one will always be special to me..xx
