Morning - I am having trouble thinking what to buy my fabulous in laws for Christmas. They know how current situation and have told us not to buy any presents for them.......I can't do that!

My parents who also know and say exactly the same thing are easy, I come from a big family and we club together to buy them both something they need, then they have pressies of the children to open.

I don't have that option with the in laws.I don't want to be seen wasting money on "smellies" which I know are the safe option, but they get loads of these off the grandchildren.

So if anyone has any ideas I'll be grateful? I was thinking of getting a voucher from the salon my MIL goes to, but would this look silly?

I think that's a good idea Julie, I am sure she would be chuffed to death with that.

Does your FIL have any hobbies?

Thanks Jan - FIL is a minister so spends all his time either marrying or burying people...he does like cooking though, must be where hubby gets it from [:D]

We normally get him a jumper, scarf etc..but I'd like to get something else and not so expensive, just don't know what. I have got the M&S vouchers I won for my blog, but I had my eye on a coat for myself. That can wait though [:(]

vouchers are a great idea, I would go with them. It's a real nightmare thinking of pressies, I haven't even started yet.....

Julie -do use your vouchers on your coat, we need the odd treat. Like you say the in-laws are understanding, and I'm sure they would therefore be mortified if they knew you had forfeited something you need for a gift! They wouldn't enjoy it.

The vouchers are a fab idea. In the past we have bought vouchers for a meal; cinema; bowling depending on the couple. What about a cookbook? You can never have too many, and in the right shop needn't be too expensive

I agree. If FIL likes cooking, have a quick look at the books he has so you don't duplicate - then get him a nice book. There's loads around now.

I agree as well,the voucher from the salon for your MIL sounds like a great idea,I'm sure she will be very pleased with that.

As for FIL, hmmmm!!! that's more difficult.... I was thinking maybe a Book Voucher (if he likes to read) or a Bottle of his fave tipple (if he drinks)....blimey!!men are so awkward to buy for [:D]... I saw a Book by Delia Smith in Asda yesterday that looked good but he probably has loads of Cookery Books?....it's a relaunch of her old 70's Book called....wait for it... Frugal Food[:D] aimed for people on a low budget but I had a quick look at it and it looks quite good.

Try to keep the M & S Vouchers, you deserve to treat yourself[;)]

Or maybe a voucher for both of them to go for a Meal?

A voucher for a salon is a great idea.I would just love that!! Vouchers for meals are a brill idea too.Last yr we got oh's brother & his wife a meal voucher for a new indian restraunt that'd just opened & they were chuffed to bits..Little home made hampers are a favourite of mine too.Maybe a nice selection of olive oil's for someone who enjoys cooking? Also,throughout the year i have been saving photos that i've taken of family/friends & i am going to put them in nice frames to give as presents[:)]xx

My mum bought me vouchers from my hairdresser last year and I was really pleased with that, so I think the voucher would go down well with your MIL. I also think a book token for your FIL would be a good idea.

Thanks for the ideas - I think I'm going to get FIL a cookery book and make a hamper of ingredients for one of the recipes. Hope to get a cookery book thats full of Welsh recipes.

I've been to the outlet village this morning and bought jigsaws, activity books and reading books for my little angels. Managed to get 12 items for £12.

I'm not normally organised, but you have to be on a budget.

Hey Julie, I posted on other link about Primark PJS, ranging from £3 - £5.. they are lovely, fleecy, cotton, silky and also vest and short ones.. they're fab

I'm making a calendar for my Mum and brother, he'll have one with scenes from out home town and my Mum will have one with members of the family, very cheap to make and very personal.

How about a nice photo of the grandchildren in a nice frame?
