I have just been through a costly divorce and have been left with nothing apart from debt to the total of £32k. I now live in rented accommodation and all my salary goes on interest each month. I have a chance of sponsership in Australia for a new job and great career opportuninty, but what about my debt? Your ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you. Could I pay an IVA from another country?

Hi there. Yes you can continue your iva from another country. It just entails keeping your payments up to date and your Ip informed of any changes.. It shouldnt be a problem.

Welcome to the Forum Ahh,
Yes it is possible to pay into your IVA whilst being in another country, however this could be quite difficult. Have you considered bankruptcy as an option, as I believe this would give you a more definite solution to your debts.
If you are wanting to enter an IVA you will need a residence address here in the UK. ALso have you considered the expense of sending $AUS back to the UK. If your IVA payment was as minimal as £250 that converts to cAUS$575 per month.

Yes this is possible. Contact 2/3 companies and talk this through with them or alternatively post some more details on your debt and estimated income / expenditure in Australia.

Hello ahh,
As the other posters have mentioned it is possible to continue an IVA from abroad. If you are looking for a firm to represent you you may find our site
www.IVA.com useful. We maintain a list of IVA firms and IPs and post customer reviews of the services that they provide.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
Kind regards,
Terry Balfour
