Got a statement through the post yesterday from AMEX saying I owed them 48p!

I didn't include them as one of my creditors, because I had forgotten about them to be quite honest! Do I need to take any action with this? Might I be just as well paying the 48p to get it out of the way, or could this cause problems with preferencial treatment?

It does say on the statement that no payment is necessary, but I have been caught out with small amounts like this before with an old mobile phone contract I had a few years ago where I owed them 9p, and despite them saying there was no need to pay it, they were marking my credit rating with non-payment! I did manage to get it sorted in the end, but I don't want the same problem when I come out the other end of my IVA.

I think you will be ok to pay the 48p, and I would do just to clear the balance.

If you want to be on the safe side, let your IP know, but i'm sure it'll be ok.

I keep getting statements from Amex - they owe me 4p! The statement says that the account is closed, but when I asked them a couple of years ago to stop sending the statements they said they couldn't as they owed me money, and when I told them to send me a cheque they said they couldn't as the amount owed is less than £1!

They're going to my mum's address, so I think the only way round this is to tell her to send them back marked 'not known at this address' - perhaps they'll take the hint!

If I were you Cr15py I would pay the 48p just to get rid of them!
