Nothing to do with IVA's etc, but i know there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum.
Grandad Torch is now 82 and getting a little unsteady on his feet.
He would like to make some alterations to his bathroom, either a low level shower, or a wet-room.
Does anyone out there know if he could get help toward the costs from
government sources etc?.

I'm no expert in this, but we had a new bathroom fitted into our house for my elderly mum (who lives with us) and we did not have to pay the VAT as she is partly disabled. I would have thought that your local Social Services could help.

You need to contact social services who will send out an occupational therapist to assess your mums needs. They will discuss all the options and contact her local council. The Occupational therapist will help her to apply for a disabled facilities grant who will pay some or ALL of the cost of the adaptations.
Hope this helps.

Hi OT
If you are registered disabled, social services would assess and install stair lifts, wet rooms etc. for free. The only downside is the equipment remains their property and they will remove it when no longer required.
Your local social services would be able to advise best as they vary from council to council.

Thanks all.
Will give social services a ring.
I think he has been in touch with them for other matters in the past.
