Advice please
My monthly sky package is £38.
As yet I not included this payment as part of my expenditure, I have paid this out of spare money I have each month.
Should I include this full amount at my next review in May also I have to purchase overalls, gloves and some cothing(any not supplied by my employers) for work - does this come under my clothing allowance or is it additional expenditure.

I would put both down Goulda, and see what your IP says. I would suggest that he/she will be more sympathetic with the second area rather than the first - as presumably you had Sky TV when you entered into the IVA.

Hi,
I did not include my sky package in my expenditure either because I thought this would be classed as a luxury not a necessity, although when you haven't got any money sky T.V. is about all you have got

Creditors will generally allow a basic package allowance of £21 per month.

You should be entitled to tax relief on your work clothes

I just like to mention that my creditors insisted on removing the provision for Sky TV and paying it into the IVA, so it's not always positive.

Creditors will only normally remove Sky if it exceeds the £21 maximum, and i am sure your IVA provider will tell you this.
Hull_Tiger must have exceeded this limit or had exceeded limits on other expenditures.
If you are fair to your creditors they are fair with you (They are not as bad as they seem)

We have the 'Multiroom' package, which costs an extra £10 a month, the youngest torchlette, who still lives at home pays the extra.
Mrs Torch takes any extra out of my pocket money.

Hi
The CCCS guidelines allow a basic package and as this seems to be the benchmark that most creditors take I would always include this in a proposal if applicable

Is there anything to stop you cutting back somewhere and upgrading the package? The reason I ask is that we don't go out very often but we watch a lot of football on Sky Sports - you have to have some pleasures in life!

Is there a web site where we can look at the CCCS guidelines for expenses and allowances

Its excellent we are allowed to keep the sky package when in an IVA becuase without out i am sure we would be bored, for two reasons, 1 - cant afford to go out, 2 - theirs mostly crap on the main 5 channels.
Thinking about it if iva's were around 30 years ago, this money would of gone in to the IVA becuause sky wasnt around then.
So in one way its a luxury, but a very much needed need. Same for smoking i was allowed £20 a month allowance. But yet their is not an official allowance for emergencys, such as something as little as £40 a month we can put to one side in an emergency. You would also think it would be in the creditors interest to allow this. Because if some money was needed in emergency, you can pay for it without affecting your IVA, and then less chance potentially having your IVA failing.
no matter how bad money gets, theirs stll alot more important things in life - 48 payments to go

James - there most definately is an allowance for sundries and emergencies and sports, hobbies and entertainment under the CCCS guidelines.

Melanie, is the £21/mth allowance allowed in bankruptcy also?
The IS website seems to say Sky TV is not permitted, but it doesn't look like it's been updated for a while, so maybe it has changed?
If I am allowed the £21 allowance, is it better to just put that on the Bankruptcy I/E, or the actual £38/mth I pay at the moment? I actually pay £48/mth on Sky, but my son pays me the £10 Multiroom charge.
