I have just started an IVA and currently pay all my bills via D/D. My contents insurance and pet insurance are both due and have the renewal quotes have come in quite a lot higher than last year.
[?]The question is if i find a lower quote will i still be able to pay by monthly D/D with new companys as they do credit searches or will i come up as having bad credit and have to pay up in full? i have never not paid a bill and do not have the money to pay in full.
[?]Has anyone been declined setting up a D/D?

Hi
You will be able to pay via DD,no problems.
Most, but not all,ask for a months payment or two upfront and the way the payment plan works you are always paying infront for the product,so the risk to the insurance provider is minimal as they will simply cancel the cover if you do not pay.
Shop around for a better deal and rest assured that you will be able to pay via instalments

Thanks Andy.
Did not want to look silly by applying and being declined.

A good question janot, I am looking to do the same!! My contents insurance has gone up by 57%, and a quick browse on the internet last night found a significantly cheaper package for the same cover.

quick update,
Nationwide have quoted me over £200.00 per year cheaper, LTSB had sent renewal for £665.00 per year, for contents insurance, and do not live in flood area, (top of hill so very little risk,) When i asked them why the increase they advised i had moved to a slightly better area and so now at risk of break in. but will now go on to confused.com to see what else is out there.
