my ex husband had a joint bank account and when we divorced he was suppose to clear all debt but now has opted for IVA instead and the debt has come to me even thou i havent touched this account since we split in may 2007. the bank are requesting i clear this debt, it was stated on the consent form from solicitor that he cleared debt but hasnt. im devastasted

surely you should have written to your bank requesting your name was removed off the account when you split?

Hi
The bank is entitled to chase you for the debt as you are both jointly responsible for the debt,even though your ex is in an IVA.
As already advised you need to take advice.
