Ive been reading the forum the past week and have my phone interview tomorrow to be put forward for an iva with hopefully my ip...(as long as she sees fit!!)
On some posts there are some people saying it took them 6/7 even 8 months to get their iva set up...
is this the norm? as the lovely lady i have spoken to says it takes upto 8/10weeks...
im really scared about all this but honestly so happy ive made that first phone call...but still have no idea how all this works...
Fingers crossed everything gets excepted by my ip and ile be on here for the next 5 years at least

10 weeks seems a touch on the long side, but it depends on how long it takes for you to get the information pack together for your IVA.
If you're a homeowner then you'll have to arrange a valuation, so you're in the hands of the estate agents as to when they'll do it, you'd also have to write to your mortgage company for a current statement.
Once the pack is with your IP though, it should be no more than a week to get a proposal drawn up and agreed with you, once it's been signed then it can go to the creditors, then you've got another 3-4 weeks notice period for the meeting.
I normally tell my clients around 6-8 weeks.

My IVA, from first contact to my IVA being approved was 82 days, although in that was Christmas, my IP was on holiday for 10 days, and then off sick for 10 days, and I caused a delay by not being aware I needed a new bank account. I think I could have got it done in 8 weeks, but I had no desperate rush to get it done too quickly.

Hi there peppermint. Mine took about 6/7 weeks. Some may take longer as property values need to be obtained and there may be more to do.
