We are coming to the end of our IVA (last monthly payment made & remortgage application submitted) and the brakes failed on our car yesterday whilst my wife was driving it (she is thankfully ok). I do not want to spend any more money on this failing 13 year old car but realise financing another one a a reasonable rate will be difficult. We have significant surplus funds due to my wife taking a new job during the IVA so affording one is not the issue. Any ideas? I need a quick solution.

Hi
I take it that your wife is in an IVA also ?
If she wants to take a finance agreement out she will still need permission from her IP.
If she is not in an IVA then she will be free to purchase or lease as she wishes.
