Hiya its Carlos here,

I thought i would tell you all the big day for me is on 2nd January where i find out the outcome of the meeting.
My journey has been a rough one, but from everyone i have read about on this site there has been nothing but encouragement. I was listening to Radio 5 live in December of last year while sitting in my car waiting to go into a sales appointment, the show was about debt and i heard about a city worker in London who had accumauklated 40k worth of debt (similar to my own situation) he was about 32 and he said he had to make a decision in life whether teh IVA was for him... his gf had left him and he was at a low. At this point he felt that he had to get an IVA so he plucked up the courage to say "do it now or i will never do it". He then said after 2 years he is in a better situatio wealth and health wise, he has a new bank account and all his credit cards and loans had been wiped with teh IVA. I thought wow, if he could do it, why cant i! Ive had problems with people close to me putting me down about my finances and ive realised that i hope when the IVA is established i will be so happy. I am also waiting for my wife to arrive from morocco, it will be so fitting in January if this can all happen as ive had some bad experinces with all my credit card companies and Provident who the worlds worst at diplomacy "and i mean the worst"!!!

Words of wisdom: if your in the same position, make steps to talk to someone about an IVA, because i have found it so much easier to wake up in the morning, eat something decent, relax while im at work, talk to my wife with confidence on the phone. I hope on the 2nd January at teh meeting they accept the proposal put through my debt free direct.

Merry xmas to all

Carlos

Thanks Debbie!!!!!
I sometimes wish i could have done straight after that phone call in Dec 06!!!! But because i was appealing to get my wife Hanane over here i decided not to, i will never know if it would have had a bearing on my standing when appeal to get my wife here, but all i ask no is my IVA to be accepts and Hananes passport to be stamped so that she can join me here in the UK.

Yes Carlos, My IVA was approved last Monday. I hope your wife joins you soon, and just remember that 80% of all IVA's are approved. Your IP would not put your proposal forward to your creditors if he didn't think it would get accepted, so I think you will be fine x

Cheers Debbie! x
I will share the joy once it happens. Ive also waited 18 months so far for my wife to come over to the UK to spending £2500 on solictors fees (which again added to my debt worry! Hanane is supportive of my situation and will assist me as soon as comes to the UK, and Debt free direct are aware of this too. I just hope whoever read these forum posts know that there is life after taking an IVA out ! And congrats on Mondays decision !
