i am on a joint mortgage, does my husband have to know about an IVA in my name for my debts?

Hi and welcome to the forum

well the problem with this is that any equity on the house that can help pay off the debts may have to be released so your husband will have to know then.

Although as this is a stressful time so I would advise your husband he may be able to help you through this.

Hi Nichola

Assuming that you have some equity in your property, your husband will have to give his permission to any equity raising required by your creditors, and therefore you will have to make him aware of your intention to propose an IVA. Most IP's will want you to confirm that you have made him aware, and as Sarah says you will probably need some moral support through the process as well.
