Hi donna.g,

There are a few Basic Bank Accounts with direct debits such as:

- Clydesdale Bank / Readycash - MAESTRO
- Co-operative Bank / Cashminder - VISA ELECTRON
- Halifax / Easycash - VISA ELECTRON
- NatWest / Step - SOLO

Regards,

You could always try Lloyds Classic Account with Debit card and Internet banking, Abbey Card Cash Account or Barclays Card Cash Account.

As long as you open a basic account with no credit facilities attached and the lender is not a creditor you should be fine

Nationwide flex account...4% interest that others don't give you! No cheque book or debitcard though only a cash card.

Also, apply to the Co-op for a account that pays no interest but you get a visa electron card.

Best of both worlds
