I'm with the Co-Op and they're fine. You can bank online and set up standing orders and direct debits easily.
In fact, First Direct closed my account because I had an IVA (fools !) and the Co-Op handled the transfer of all the previous D/D's and S/O's better than First Direct did when I opened my account with them originally. Not all places take Electron cards, but they are few and far between.
Good luck [:o)]

Definetely go for co-op basic bank account. I have found them excellent - and the post office paying in/withdraw facility is dead handy too!

				Robbo:
The ROYAL Bank of Scotland owns Natwest NOT Bank of Scotland.
BOS are linked with Halifax.
