Hi everyone,
Had to take my dog to the vets this morning, as he wasn't very well, and they have kept him in, and put him on a drip. They don't really know whats wrong with him at the moment, but say he is extreamly ill. Me and my husband are heartbroken. I have just runf the vets and they said he hadn't responded to the antibiotics as yet, and they were going to keep him in overnight tonight. I am sat at work, and i feel like bursting into tears. Don't know what I'm going to do if he doesn't pull through.
Sorry, just needed a moan.[:(]

That's sad news, it's always so hard when a beloved pet is unwell. I hope you hear some positive news soon.

I really hope he will be ok, I was a wreck when my cat was missing at Xmas and then we found him and he was so ill, I really did not think he would survive the weekend. We took him home on a Friday and the vet said to bring him back to be put on a drip on Saturday if he did not drink anything. Once he was home, he did drink but was so weak he could not even walk properly. I had to carry him up and down off the sofa. He did not eat either and I was so scared that we had found him at last only for him to die! I had to feed him Felix off my fingers, because he could not get to his bowl. Slowly over the weekend he did eat more and more and has just improved since then.

I hope you find out whats wrong with your dog and he recovers [:)]

Just to add: about the antibiotics, I think they need time to work, my George had to have 2 injections and then we had to give him pills every 12 hours.

Thanks everyone. He's only been on the antibiotics since 9am this morning, so hopefully they start to kick in soon. The vet has mentioned Parvo, but Oliver has all his jabs, so didn't think he could get this. They are keeping him in overnight tonight, and I have to call back tonight at 6pm for an update. He's a Weimaraner, but he's my baby, and he's like one of my kids to me.
