I find it so sad to read on the site that there are so many people who seem to experience difficulty with their I.P's - there are a few bad apples that seem to crop up time and time again. I've been very lucky compared to some of the postings I've read, have never had any problems so far with my chosen firm and found their support both pre and post IVA second to none.
I'm wondering therefore ,after an IVA has been agreed and you then begin to experience problems with your IP,is it not possible to change to a different one? At the end of the day, your'e still a customer who is paying for the service and therefore should expect a certain degree of quality.
Could we not have a facility created somewhere on the site that allows those of us lucky ones to reccommend which IP practitioners are really good prior to entering into an arrangement?

Unfortunately Bev, once you've started your IVA you are stuck with that company unless your IVA is failed for whatever reason.

There is a facility on here where companies have reviews from satisfied (or otherwise!) customers. I think you get to it by going via iva.com, but I could be wrong.

Someone will put you right I am sure.

I don't think you are allowed to change IP's once it has all gone though except in very special circumstances for example if the ip stopped trading. I'm not sure what would happen then though whether all their case would go to a single IP or whether you'd be able to pick one yourself to go with.

A gree about having some place to to do recommendations of IP's I think the .com equivelant of this site have some reviews on the ips

1 You cannot change IPs
2 If the IP stopped trading it would not be for you to decide which IP ou want to work for.

Technically your creditors could decide at the original meeting of creditors that they want a different IP to the one you have selected. The reason for this is that the IP technically works for the creditors rather than you (the debtor).

You should ensure that you have a face to face meeting with the Insolvency Practitioner to ensure that ou fully understand all your options as an IVA is a long term committment.

This can also be done over the telephone quite well, but if clients are self-employed, have complex affairs, or simply are not understanding how the process works, then I agree with Alan that a face to face meeting is essential. I try to encourage as many face to face meetings with my clients as possible.
