How long has it been since you stopped paying egg??? Just wondering as they are one of our creditors(2 credit cards and a loan),and seem to be relentless in their phone calls, phoning the house 12-15 times a day and even phoned my mobile the other day (when I answered i told them I was someone else who had just last month bought the phone from a friend,no more calls on it hehehe).

They dont stop do they? We get about 15 calls a day from their Essex office. We owe £1260 and they want us to pay them £11. I've explained that I cant as this would be showing them preferential treatment over my other creditors. they dont like that! So now I dont answer.

We stopped paying all our Creditors as of April/May. I must admit and I am probably tempting fate but we - compared to others have been extremly lucky. I seemed to have been hounded more the oh but I choose to answer every call. I tell them what we are trying to do, then I tell them everything I know with regards to progress and then I tell them that I physically cannot pay a penny as I am working for nothing (all money gone as soon as received). I tell them that we want to be able to pay at least something back, although not ideal it is better than the other option which is to pay back nothing. I always stress that we have tried on numerous occasions to get out of our situation to no avail and now interest rates have finished us off. I am honest, everything I tell them is the truth. I have had one guy from Halifax who was awful he ended up putting the phone down on me - to his shock I rang back and complained that I was trying to explain my situation and he put the phone down. [;)]
Egg themselves too have been okay - up to no (I am not silly and realise it will get worse). Once I have explained to the creditors our current position they delay all clls for 10 days. Once I have signed the proposl I will write to them and tell them the proposal has been signed and they should hear soon - I know Melanies team will do this for me but it helps me mentally to know I am doing everything I can - Just me indiviual approach to thesituation and everyone is different.

Good luck and I hope they delay their call for you too. XX

I meant to say. If creditors ring me on my mobile then I tell them I am at work and if my employer finds out about my situation then I could be sacked - then I wouldn't be in a position to go IVA. I tell them I have an answer machine at home and that I will always ring them back if they leave a message. They have ALL stopped ringing my mobile.

Good luck. X

I'm afraid to say that I took the cowards way out and didn't speak to them after their intial phone calls (when I didn't know who it was). Mercers used to leave me messages and I never returned them.

I had used to write however, explain my position to them and tell them that I wouldn't deal with phone calls, only letters. Didn't stop them though!

That's all stopped now though and I am no longer afraid of answering the phone.

Jan it is not the cowards way out. It is how you personally dealt with situation and it worked for you.

I am hoping I will be in your situatio soon. [:D]
