I am looking for accommodation to rent at the moment, and have noticed that many agencies ask for a bank reference. Will this deter a landlord from renting his propety to me. Please advise

I assume that you are suffering from financial difficulties? Some landlords do carry out credit checks, otheres do not. You may be better off finding a private landlord, rather than an agency if you are worried about your credit rating.

Hi Melanie

I am 2 years into an IVA, and I was concerned that once a credit check was made, an agency would see how adverse my credit history is at the moment....

They will see that your are in an IVA, but in contrast they will also see that you are able to keep up regular repayments to both your landlord and the IVA company. In my book that makes you a good credit risk not a bad one!

Hi
Just be totally upfront with the agents, many people in IVAs have been successful.
