I will also post this in the BR section but just wondered if anyone had any advice

My partner and i are both going BR on 24th June and obviously at the moment we are recieving hate mail (from our creditors) as we have not been paying these for 2 months due to initially looking into the IVA option... this leads me to the question do i tell our creditors that we are going bankrupt and the date or will they try to get us to court for payment beforehand etc?

Thanks for advice in advance

hi .
im not sure . we went into an iva owing over 100 k . 40 k was to northern rock , 30K to egg , then lloyds etc credit cards galore. we still have our mortgage with NR . we are now half way thr pur iva and pay 539 a month . we had loads of hate mail and phone calls from companies prior to our acceptance of an iva. wouldnt be too concerned now if you are going br. all the very best to you both

Hi there

there is no harm in telling your creditors at this point about your appointment later in the month.

Some of the more reasonable call staff will be extremely polite and ask you if you could call back with the Br number after the event while others lack a little training and will still suggest that you will have to pay them after Br as well.

There is absolutely no chance of a creditor starting a court procedure now and beating you to it so no worries there.

Good luck and if you have any questions re paperwork and procedures in the local court please post on the Br site so we can help

thanks
