Hi Ann and welcome
Perhaps you could post a few more details.
How much you owe
Who your creditors are
Are you a home owner and if so do you have any equity
How much disposable income do you feel you would have after all normal living expenses are paid but without paying your creditors.

welcome to forum Ann.. me and hubby have separate IVAs but they are interlocking with one payment. You will need to post more info of amounts of debts etc as Mrs S advises..

Thanks for the support I have been reading the forum for a weeks now and got some great advice I have just completed Melanie's form on her website so hopefully a get a ring soon. A bit concerned about the way HSBC treat customers I have all my eggs in the basket with them, loans, credit cards mortgage, after reading the forum i'm going to open another account with a bank I have no connection with. My husband works away so I'm hoping I can open it without him.

Hi ann and welcome to the forum.
As angela says there is an iva where the proposal is joint and ust one payment, income and expenditure is done jointly. This is not a joint iva but two interlocking. Voting on the other hand is done seperately. We have one also and it works really well. You will get great advice form Melanie and her team.
Keep posting.

Co-Op or Halifax will open accounts for you.....apply on line and then all you will need is your husbands signature when the paperwork comes through.
Don't risk waiting for IVA to be approved before leaving HSBC as they will get to you very quickly !

I opened a new account before I started to default on my cards. Was with Barclays but had overdrafts there so opened a new account with TSB - current account with cheque book and cash card, I also opened a savings account at the same time. My husband then changed his as well separately.

If you want to open a basic Co-op Cashminder account you will need to do this in a branch or on the telephone as you cannot open it online.

Just wanted to say good luck and well done Ann ... for looking to address your debt situation with the possibility of an IVA. You certainly wont regret this ... I am in a completely different place now to what I was two years ago having gone down the IVA route.
All the best

Thanks for the advice and help, got a call from Tina from Melanie Giles's team she is going to give me a ring on Tuesday to discuss the matter further, she really put me at ease as I was stressed as my hubby had just gone away to work for two weeks, when he is away we can't really discuss much as the calls are normally around 6 mins. I'm having a bit of a stress full time I don't know if I will be able to pay the cc's this month, also does anyone know if it is worth ringing the loan companies to see if I can have a holiday break or do you not recommend this. I am really hoping Tina can help or give us good advice on which way to turn.

Good luck with your 'meeting' with Tina, with regards to your cc payments I would wait until Tuesday and see what Tina suggests.
If an IVA is the way to go you would normally stop paying your debts until the creditors meeting anyway.
Hope all goes well,
Kirsty

Hi Ann
I would agree with Kirsty ... wait until you speak with Tina on Tuesday ... things could, and likely will, look a whole lot different by then [:)]

Thanks for the support I felf all alone when my hubby went away to work last week, had the call from Tina it looks like the only solution is BR I need to speak to hubby with ref to this, but his calls are short and are worried anyone is listening so roll on next thursday when he gets back. I opened a co-op cashminder account yesterday it took only 10 mins in branch and also i got a joint one without hubby been there, very amazed. Started ringing utility co's to change from dd to quartly statements hope this is the right thing to do, at the min I don't owe them anything does anyone know when I should start to ring the cc companies to ask them to take a token payment, as I don't think we'll be able to pay them next month as I want to keep paying the mortgage. HSBC are not at all helpfull my account is with them I also have a loan I wanted to change the date from the 22nd to 28th giving tnem 12days notice I told point blankly I was too late for this month and I'll have to pay it, but it should be changed for July, at the minute not a good bank to deal with.

Hi Ann,
It sounds as though you've got things pretty much organised. HSBC were one of my major creditors as well, and they are NOT helpful in the slightest!
Can't help with regard to telling your creditors. I just wrote to mine and offered less payment. Too cowardly to speak to them on the phone.
Hope it all continues ok for you.
