Hi,

I've been living with my Partner for over 5 years, we have one child, live in rented property and have full time jobs.
We both have high levels of individual debt, and we are unable to meet repayments.
An IVA appears to be the best solution, would we have to apply for this individually or is there a "joint" IVA we can apply for and combine our debts together? Our total debt is £40k

Thanks,

Stuart.

Hi Stuart, and welcome to the forum.

My husband and I have what they call 'interlocking' IVA's as we have several joint debts as well as the ones in my name only. They are separate ones though. I don't know if you can do a joint one. I am sure one of the experts will be along to help you shortly.

Hey Stuart, welcome to the forum. As Kalis has said you can have both your IVAs interlocking but you would both have to propose seperate IVAs. At present that's why they are called Individual, but maybe in the future they might introduce a joint one, who knows. Good luck and keep posting for advice and support. Viki X

There is no such thing as a joint IVA, although as the others have siad it's possible to have two IVAs interlocking into one payment.
